Forest Park Southeast

Where is Forest Park Southeast?

Forest Park Southeast (FPSE) is one of the 79 neighborhoods within the City of St. Louis. It's shaped like a triangle, and bordered by the following streets: I-64 (US 40) to the North, South Kingshighway to the West, and Vandeventer Avenue to the South & East. Although technically not part of FPSE, MStL also has a relationship with the McReetown / Botanical Heights, which is the westernmost stretch of homes between Vandeventer Avenue and I-44. A revitalized stretch of Manchester Avenue runs through the heart of FPSE, and the intersection of Manchester and Tower Grove Avenue is the geographic center of the neighborhood. Adams School, the public elementary school in the community is located just two blocks south of this intersection.

Why Forest Park Southeast?

For the past couple of years, our plan has been to focus all of our energy into one community. After we built a relationship with the public school in the neighborhood, we realized that we wanted to work with the people in the surrounding community. Through the early months of our organization’s history, we learned tough lessons about stretching ourselves too thin over the cityscape. Most frustrating was our inability to build lasting relationships (fostering lasting change). We realized that we needed to focus on one place… one people. So we picked Forest Park Southeast because of it’s proximity to The Journey’s Tower Grove location. This was helpful, since our organization had it’s origins within that church.
