We are incredibly excited to celebrate the success of Mission: St. Louis in 2023.

Last year we focused on deepening our relationships with our participants and neighbors. We made a conscious effort to engage with our community through newsletters, the annual Neighborhood Night Out and bringing back our Staying Power Awards. Our diversion program has grown to include the 22nd Circuit Court and is now funded in part by the City of St. Louis. This ensures that there are alternatives to incarceration. Finally, we became the new provider of the City of St. Louis violence intervention program. We are excited for Show Me Peace to be in four neighborhoods across the city in 2024. This growth and change is all alongside the work of our core programs, Beyond Jobs, Beyond School and Home Repair.

As we reflect on the progress we made in 2023, we are also humbly aware of the ongoing challenges that are facing the St. Louis community. It is with this in mind that we move forward in 2024. I invite you to look through this impact report to see the progress we made in 2023.

EACH1 was the for support corney was looking for and he leaned on us as he continued to face struggles. In September of 2022, Corney’s brother Darris was murdered, and a few months later Corney was shot at eight times through his driver’s side car door. On top of grieving the death of his brother and the trauma of his own attempted shooting, Corney was struggling substance abuse issues.

With the resources and support of Mission: St. Louis, Corney has been clean for about a year, has taken online IT classes and now works full-time in that field.

- Corney, 2023 Person of the Year

We released the fourth season of podcast, Say That to Say This. This season we delved into the experiences of our hosts Josh and Jason, how these experiences define who we are and can change how we view others. They challenged us to look into ourselves and understand both the “what” and the “why” behind our decisions.

In 2023, we hosted the first Staying Power Awards since 2019!

This Staying Power we celebrated 12 people from 10 organizations, who have shown exceptional strength and determination. we honored them at the 21c museum hotel alongside their friends and families.

When Camille joined Beyond School, she was at risk of not passing the 5th grade. Beyond School offered her a supportive space to focus and learn.

By the time second quarter report cards came out, she was making all As and Bs and by the third quarter she was on the honor roll.

- Camille, 2023 Student of the Year
