SUCCESS COACH
The Success Coach ACM position is responsible for helping to create and implement a high quality Beyond School Program. This in-office/in-person, full-time position requires someone who is skilled not only with communication, scheduling, and logistics but also is able to connect with adults and students, alike. The Beyond School Success Coach ACM must be very resourceful. The primary focus of the Success Coach’s work with students revolves around the scholars’ academic and social/emotional growth and getting them to cultivate habits that will result in life-long success. They must be able to respond with positive, appropriate behavior, even in frustrating situations with at-risk youth. Success Coach ACMs report to the Beyond School Site Coordinator and must be willing to take direction, voice ideas in a respectful manner, and function as a team member with other Beyond School team members.
Full time (40 hours a week), M-F 10:00am-6:45pm

Participate in Beyond School Team meetings and Professional Development/Service Trainings to develop and implement a high-quality program
Service hours include: ~10:00 a.m.-6:45 p.m. Monday-Friday (including breaks); hours outside of direct service program times performed in-office and used for planning, admin, transportation, and meetings requiring no fewer than 40 hours/week until early July
Foster a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for our students, parents, staff, and volunteers
Collaborate team to implement the Beyond School Culture Manual policies
Uphold Beyond School student expectations
Serve with fellow Beyond School team members as a consistent and fair disciplinarian for our students
Communicate regularly, effectively, and kindly with parents
Recruit students for the program
Attend open houses/parent conferences/parent events, including Family Nights
Plan weekly one-on-one sessions with individual students in order to provide individualized guidance and ongoing feedback
Internalize and exhibit the Beyond School Mission
Support and help complete all daily tasks that must be implemented for Beyond School
Build meaningful relationships with your crew’s teachers and support staff, communicating regularly with them in order to best support each student’s needs both during the school day and program hours (i.e. pushing into a class during the school day if a student needs extra support)
Guide and encourage volunteers serving in your crew in order to maximize student growth
Transport students and supplies as needed, including transporting students home and to enrichment/community service opportunities as well as deliveries to students/families
Obtain Class E driver’s license
Lead teach at least one Enrichment class
Plan and implement Crew Times (Social/Emotional Learning time)
Lead all aspects of Academic Time for your crew
Track student classwork/homework assignments and ensure students are completing assigned work
Collaborate with Coordinator to develop and implement daily lessons in literacy and math
Track and record student growth in Salesforce
Track and record student grades and progress monitoring scores in order to monitor student growth
Prepare/create each student’s daily lesson plan and other necessary student materials
As part of the Mission: St. Louis and AmeriCorps team, participate in company-wide activities, events, and various office-related duties as needed, including some weekend activities
As a part of the Beyond School team, work on various projects as needed
Attend school wide activities such as recitals and sporting events

ASSOCIATE
The Associate ACM position is responsible for helping to create and implement a high quality Beyond School Program. This in-office/in-person, part-time position requires someone who is skilled not only with communication, scheduling, and logistics, but also is able to connect with students and families, alike. The primary focus of the Associate’s work with scholars revolves around the scholars’ academic and social/emotional growth and getting them to cultivate habits that will result in life-long success. They must be able to respond with positive, appropriate behavior, even in frustrating situations with at-risk youth. The Associate reports to the Beyond School Site Coordinator. This person must be willing to take direction, voice ideas in a respectful manner, and function as a team member with other Beyond School team members. Reduced part time (15-18 hours a week), 4-5 days a week 2:30pm-6:45pm

AIDE
The Aide position for our Beyond School Program is an AmeriCorps service opportunity. It requires someone who is great at connecting with kids. They must be able to respond with positive, appropriate behavior, even in frustrating situations with youth. Aides report to the Beyond School Program Coordinator and must be willing to take direction, voice ideas in a respectful manner, and function as a team member with other Beyond School team members.
Minimum time (10-12 hours a week) 3-4 days a week, flexibly 2:30pm-6:30pm

SHOW ME PEACE OPPORTUNITIES
VIOLENCE INTERRUPTER (Part-time)
Are you highly relational? Do you find yourself naturally mediating conflicts and mentoring people to make better decisions? Have you experienced some things in life and now you want to stop individuals from engaging in violence? If so, this position may be for you!
Mission: St. Louis is hiring 12 Violence Interrupters for a new program that specifically works with individuals at highest risk for engaging in violence - to prevent violence from occurring, to intervene when it is happening or is about to, and to respond when tragic events do take place. A team of 3 Violence Interrupters will work at each site.

As Violence Interrupter, you will be responsible for:
Neighborhood Outreach
Build relationships with key individuals in the target area, learning about the causes of shootings/killings to assist in mediating situations and preventing retaliation.
Form relationships with the highest risk people in the community, as well as the people who know them, and engage with them on a regular basis, assessing readiness for case management.
Hold events that will engage individuals most at risk.
Case Management
Maintain a caseload of people who are at highest risk for violent activity.
Maintain frequent communication with participants on your caseload and assist them as they navigate each day.
Formulate Action Plans (risk reduction plans) to prevent and resolve conflicts.
Refer individuals interested in Beyond Jobs through the established process.
Incident Intervention
Talk to residents in the target area about potential conflicts and assist in preventing them.
When possible, intervene in circumstances in which gun violence is likely, including possible retaliation.
Work with community partners to identify and diffuse “hot spots” for gun violence.
Organize peace-promoting, healing responses when shootings/killings take place.
This is not an exhaustive list; this is a high-level overview of the role.
This is a part-time position with benefits that reports directly to the Site Supervisor. This is an at-will position and can be terminated by either party at any time.
This program exists within the larger organization, Mission: St. Louis. This position will participate in various organization-wide activities and events, including monthly all-office meetings.

CLOSET SORTER // Sorters boost our ability to maintain a stocked clothes closet for our job-ready Beyond Jobs students. Tasks will include organizing and sorting donated clothes. Commitment: 2 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Times are flexible and can fit around your schedule. Will likely require quite a bit of standing.
OUTDOOR COMMUNITY HELPERS* // Many older adults in our neighborhood need help with general lawn maintenance. This could include mowing, trimming foliage, raking leaves, or shoveling snow. Commitment: One morning or afternoon that is agreed upon between the group & an M:STL team member.
BEYOND SCHOOL ACADEMIC MENTORS // As an Academic Mentor, you would be helping students grades 3-8 with literacy, academic & organizational skills, and building meaningful relationships with them. Beyond School works through three local charter schools: Lafayette Preparatory Academy + St. Louis Language Immersion School + Kairos Academies + The Biome School. Commitment: One day per week, time TBD. No special language speaking requirements.
