Home is more than a place.

From Josh:

Ms. Linda’s son was shot and killed on her front porch last spring.

The bullets left holes in her front door and bricks outside her living room. For months, the outside of her

home served as a constant reminder of that terrible day. She was struggling to move on or have any

sense of peace.

Through an “act of God’s grace,” as Ms. Linda described it, we fully replaced her front doors this

summer: “My son got shot in April. Every time I’d come in, I’d see the bullet holes and I’d remember.

Them coming to fix the doors took some of that away.”

While no repair can make up for her loss, a new front door gives peace. More than fresh paint and shiny

new hinges, she can now look at her home and remember the love, not the loss, that has filled it.

Leigh and I believe that homes are a place of safety, comfort and love.

As we are beginning to prepare for the holidays - pulling out decorations, planning our traditions and

thinking about the experiences we want for our family – we especially want every person in every family

to know they are valued and they are loved.

P.S. Ms. Linda had her home repaired and peace restored, but our list grows every day of those needing

necessary repairs. Please consider making homes safer this Christmas.
